A Unified Model for the Gravitational Wave Background and Quasar Luminosity Functions
Index of every edition
This is the index for astro-ph Nightly. Every nightly edition is listed below, newest first — pick a date to read that night’s papers, explained at three levels.
An archive of 15 nightly editions of the arXiv astro-ph listing, from 1 October 2026 to 22 October 2026. Each edition sorts that night’s abstracts by field and explains every paper three ways: for astronomers, for the public and for young explorers.

Scientists are trying to work out how many giant black holes there are and how fast they eat. They tested a model using clues from waves in space and the bright light made as black holes feed. The model could explain the light without needing the black holes to eat especially fast. That is a promising fit to the clues, not a direct look at each black hole’s meal.
